🌳 Volunteers Needed for McKinley Park Tree Planting! (March 29)🌳

Rain or Shine – Let’s Grow the Canopy!

East Sacramento Preservation-Neighborhood Association, in partnership with Sacramento City Parks, Urban Forestry Arborists, and the Sacramento Tree Foundation, is working to restore and enhance McKinley Park’s tree canopy—and we need your help!

đź—“ Date: Saturday, March 29, 2025
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM
đź“Ť Meeting Location: Along 33rd Street near Park Way & the Tennis Courts at McKinley Blvd. (Look for the white tool van and City of Sacramento trucks.)

🌱 What You’ll Be Doing

We need 30-35 volunteers to plant 10-15 new trees in McKinley Park. The City will pre-dig the holes using augers, and volunteers will:
âś… Clear holes with shovels
âś… Plant, stake, and mulch the trees
âś… Work together to strengthen our urban forest

🔨 What to Bring

🔹 Work gloves (everything else, including shovels and tools, will be provided!)
🔹 Energy and enthusiasm!
🔹 Supervision for young volunteers—kids are welcome, but they need an energetic adult to assist them.

77 Volunteers, 16 Trees, and a Greener Future

A record-breaking day!

A total of 77 dedicated volunteers—our largest turnout yet—came together at the Shephard Garden Center to plant 16 beautiful new trees in the eastern lawn. And in just 90 minutes, the work was done!
