East Sacramento Preservation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving and strengthening the East Sacramento community. We proudly support public schools and actively advocate for students and the educational programs that empower them to succeed.
Each year, a scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from UMOJA International Academy—East Sacramento’s neighborhood high school and part of the Sacramento City Unified School District. The amount of this cash award is determined annually and depends on the success of our community fundraising efforts.
“Umoja” is a Swahili word that means unity. It is the first principle celebrated during the Kwanzaa holiday, emphasizing the importance of togetherness and solidarity within the family and community.
