The previous deadline for public input was June 5.

We want everyone’s voice to be heard during the process for the General Plan update and Climate Action Plan,” said Remi Mendoza, Senior Planner and Project Manager for the City of Sacramento’s Community Development Department. “Through this online community questionnaire, we are encouraging community members to share their ideas to make Sacramento a safer, more equitable and more just city.”

Public input will help shape and inform “Sacramento 2040 General Plan,” the City’s blueprint for how and where it will grow over the next 20 years. It contains policies that guide everything from transportation, to the type of homes available, to jobs, entertainment, public safety and much more, officials said.

The City invites community members from throughout the city to learn about and provide their feedback on six key topics including livability, mobility, climate action, environmental justice, economic development and sustainable growth. Participants can learn about each topic through an informational video and respond to the proposed strategies through a short questionnaire. The online community questionnaire is available at www.sac2040gpu.org.

Additionally, the City is hosting a student rewards program for Sacramento high school students who are interested in helping shape Sacramento’s future. The rewards program deadline will also be extended to June 19 to allow participating students to continue to engage their friends, family and neighbors in a conversation about their city’s future by participating in the Sacramento 2040 virtual community questionnaire.

The program includes incentives such as raffle prizes and gift cards. Information about the student rewards program is also available at the project website.
