May Is Small Business Month—Great Workshop Opportunity
Open For Business Workshop
Dear Friend,
California’s 3.4 million small businesses are critical to the state’s recovering economy. In fact, those with fewer than 100 employees comprise 97% of all businesses in California and they are responsible for employing more than 37% of all in-state workers. That’s why I’m celebrating Small Business Week this May 12-16 by highlighting the impacts small business owners have on our state and the resources that help keep them thriving.
Small business owners, entrepreneurs, or those interested in starting a business are encouraged to register for my Open for Business half-day workshop on Friday, May 9th. This event is sponsored by my office, Sacramento State, and the Sacramento Metro Chamber.

McKinley Village Council Vote
April 29, 2014
5:30 pm
915 I Street
Politics, connections, public relations, high paid lawyers and money cannot shout down truth. However, politicians can ignore it.
East Sacramento Preservation is calling on the city council to do the right thing and to vote NO AS PROPOSED.
Here are the facts about tomorrow’s council meeting.
Our mayor has decreed that there will only be 45 minutes allowed for public testimony against the project and 45 minutes in support.
The developer will have as much time as required to spin his project’s story.
Signs are not permitted in the chambers but it says nothing about outside. Feel free to bring your Save East Sac No on McKinley Village sign. A two-minute limit on comments will be in effect and speakers may not concede time to another speaker.
The neighborhood associations will each have a designated speaker. If they all speak, about 40 minutes of comment time will be used up. If you want to speak you need to come early.
ESP ordered two robo calls to alert the community about the meeting. We apologize in advance for the annoyance.
