Upcoming Neighborhood Association Meeting — Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 PM

The Casa Loma Terrace–East Sac Neighborhood Association invites all neighbors to attend their upcoming community meeting on Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will cover several important issues affecting East Sacramento and surrounding areas.

park ranger will be present to discuss recent concerns and ongoing issues at McKinley Park, including park use, safety, and stewardship.

We will also hear from the developer of the proposed storage facility at the former Rite Aid site on Alhambra Boulevard, who will present updated design changes. Neighbors from the immediate area will share their perspectives and concerns, and time will be set aside for discussion.

In addition, there will be an update on the proposed project at the Maryann’s Bakery site, providing the latest information on plans and next steps.

These topics directly affect our neighborhood, and your presence matters. Community input plays an important role in shaping outcomes and ensuring that neighborhood voices are heard.

McKinley Park Tree Planting January 10, 2026

Rain or Shine – Let’s Grow the Canopy! East Sacramento Preservation-Neighborhood Association, is working in partnership with Sacramento City Parks, Urban Forestry Arborists, Sacramento Tree Foundation, and SMUD,to restore and enhance McKinley Park’s tree canopy.

Date: January 10, 2026
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM  (rain or shine)
📍 Meeting Location: 33rd Street, George “Butter” Cole Field, Location of new soccer field. We will meet near the Horseshoe Pits in McKinley Park. (Look for the white tool van and City of Sacramento trucks.)

🌱 What You’ll Be Doing

45 volunteers are needed to plant 10-15 new trees in McKinley Park. The City Parks will pre-dig the holes using augers, and volunteers will:

✅ Clear holes with shovels
✅ Plant, stake, and mulch the trees
✅ Work together to strengthen our urban forest

Volunteering with the project counts towards student community volunteering requirements.

🔨 What to Bring
🔹 Work gloves only (everything else will be provided, including shovels and tools)
🔹 Energy and enthusiasm!
🔹 Supervision for young volunteers—kids are welcome, but they need an energetic adult to educate, assist, and make sure they can complete the job.
