Stunning East Sacramento/Midtown Vista!

From Robert Sewell, Midtown Resident

Sutter’s Landing Panorama

The translation from Spanish is The Snowy Sawtooth Mountains. John Muir called them The Majestic Sierras.

Take a relaxing walk or bike ride over to 28th Street to the Sutter’s Landing Park. As you cross the railroad tracks, look to your left. Head out into the field and walk up on that big mound of dirt. It’s an easy gentle slope, so your children won’t have any problem getting up (though you might have a problem getting them to come down). On a clear day you can see a breathtaking panorama of our city, the park, blue skies and snowy caps. Ah, it’s springtime.

Sacramento Police Department Update on Metal and Catalytic Converter Thefts

We have been working hard recently on metal theft.  As we continue to try to address this problem I would ask that you watch out for your neighbors and your community.  If you see someone around street lights or electrical boxes please call the police immediately.  We have had a rash of thefts to street lights, with criminals removing all of the copper wiring.  It is an enormous expense to the community when the City has to come out and re-wire the lights.

Additionally, we continue to work on the theft of Catalytic Converters (a piece of the exhaust system in all cars).  We are in talks with a major oil change company.  The plan will be that you will be able to take your car to the business and they will etch your license plate onto the catalytic converter.  This will be a significant deterrent to the thief and will allow us to track the item back to the victim if we locate them at a scrap metal dealer.  We will let you know when this program is up and running.
