City of Sacramento Public Hearing on McKinley Village (Thursday, October 24, 2013, 5:30 pm)–East Sacramento Neighbors Will Attend

This illustrates one of the critical problems with the project. Come to the hearing to speak.

Thursday, October 24, 2013

Hosted by City of Sacramento New City Hall

915 I Street, 1st Floor, Sacramento, CA

The project requires a General Plan Amendment, Rezones & Subdivision Modifications to establish non-standard street sections and public alleys.

Entitlements requested will require Planning Design Commission recommendations to the City Council in 2014

No final decisions will be rendered at hearing.

This is a critical meeting to attend. Citizens can sign up to speak (3 minutes) and submit written comments. East Sacramento Preservation will be there.

One Response to City of Sacramento Public Hearing on McKinley Village (Thursday, October 24, 2013, 5:30 pm)–East Sacramento Neighbors Will Attend

  1. Marilyn Messner says:

Dear Ellen Cochrane, President of East Sacramento Preservation
Thank you for your letter in opposition to the planned McKinley Village. It was very well written. I added my name to your petition.

Those of us with property near the proposed Residential Care Facility at 33 & “I” St also need your help to deny this project –for many of the same reasons you mentioned in your opposition to McKinley Village. If it is allowed to be developed, it will be a permanent detriment to our residential neighborhood. Parking and traffic on our residential streets are huge issues along with the size of the 3 story building, with no setbacks, etc. This building would tower over the neighborhood. It doesn’t fit on the lot and it doesn’t fit in our neighborhood.
There will be 8 parking spaces on site with one reserved for bikes and one for their van. They will be allowed street space for loading, etc. They say the Turn Verein will lease them 8 parking spaces – but leased spaces are not permanent and can’t be counted on.

The developer keeps pressing for more rights and changes as time goes on. It does not compare to the former church on the property. That was one day a week for a couple hours, whereas this will be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no end.

There will be many vendors serving the facility – traffic coming and going, ambulances, visitors, workers. Where are they all going to park? Their wide vehicles will be attempting to maneuver around parked cars, etc.

In today’s Bee (Sunday, Feb 16) Steve Cohn states there is strong community support for the project and mentions that the East Sacramento Preservation Neighborhood Association recommends it. It seems all of the property owners anywhere near this proposed care facility are opposed to it. There is NOT STRONG community support for it. The neighbors have been advocating STRONG opposition to it.
It would be very much appreciated if you would PLEASE CHANGE YOUR DECISION AND LEND YOUR SUPPORT TO OUR “I” ST AND MCKINLEY NEIGHBORHOODS. This project needs to be defeated.
Thank you, Marilyn Messner, owner 3349-57 “I” St., Sacramento, CA
