Will a railyard make the McVillage devlopment obsolete?

The Sacramento Bee article, State eyes east Sacramento sites for possible new railyard, maintenance facility, explains a potential game changer in the McKinley Village developer plans. CalTrans is considering Sutter’s Landing and East Sacramento’s Centrage site as locations to build a new maintenance facility for Amtrak’s Capital Corridor and San Joaquin Corridor trains. Councilmember Steve Cohn is firmly against building on the Sutter’s Landing Park area, but is open to placing it on the proposed McKinley Village site, noting that modern railyard facilities are cleaner. ESP continues to follow McKinley Village closely.
