East Sacramento City Recycling and Composting information

Composting Event!

Free Kitchen Composter to the first 100 attending.

The City of Sacramento Department of Utilities teams up with Atlas Disposal, the UC Master Gardeners, Green Restaurant Association of Sacramento, and Hot Italian Restaurant to host an International Composting Week Celebration on May 3, 2011 at 5 p.m. at Hot Italian Restaurant, 1627 16th Street in Sacramento.

Attendees will learn firsthand how they can compost in their yard or vermi-compost in their own homes.

Hot Italian will provide “Earth Tub” demonstrations which composts food waste from the restaurant, limiting their waste production and carbon footprint.

The first 100 attendees will get a free kitchen composter and other organizations will be on hand to share information about ways to reduce food waste in the community.
